What Is ASCEND-MIBS56-MIB?

This is a proprietary Ascend Communications MIB for 56K switched digital service (SW56) modem configuration on Ascend WAN access equipment. It exposes configuration parameters for legacy 56 kbps switched-digital modem channels used for dial-up WAN backup or primary links. It supports monitoring the software/hardware configuration status of these channels — confirming they are correctly provisioned and operational — though as a legacy technology it centers more on configuration than rich fault telemetry. It has no significant dependency on other standard MIBs, being a narrow Ascend-proprietary extension for an obsolete WAN service. It is deployed on older Ascend dial-access routers used for switched-56 WAN links, largely in legacy telecom/enterprise backup circuits, and engineers maintaining this older gear can download the ASCEND-MIBS56-MIB file to load it into a MIB browser.
