What Is ASCEND-MIBPCTFI-MIB?
ASCEND-MIBPCTFI-MIB is a vendor-specific, auto-generated MIB (via Ascend's mibgen tool for TAOS-based access platforms) that models a table of PCTFI network-link profiles — proprietary Ascend interface links used on MAX TNT/APX/Stinger WAN access shelves. Each mibpctfiNetworkProfileEntry, indexed by shelf/slot/item, exposes physical addressing (pctfiNetworkProfile-PhysicalAddress-Shelf/Slot/ItemNumber), link enable state (pctfiNetworkProfile-Enabled), protocol/interface version (firstOffice or pelts), per-link trace identifiers (TraceId0/TraceId1), and T1/E1 mode selection. It is a configuration-oriented MIB rather than a counters/statistics MIB, so its monitoring value lies in confirming whether a given PCTFI link profile is enabled, correctly addressed to its physical shelf/slot, and provisioned in the expected T1 or E1 mode. It depends on the parent ASCEND-MIB's configuration subtree (mibpctfiNetworkProfile is nested under ASCEND-MIB's configuration branch) and is deployed on legacy Ascend/Lucent WAN access equipment running TAOS 10.0.1 or later; administrators can download the ASCEND-MIBPCTFI-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser when managing these older PCTFI-equipped shelves.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBPCTFI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ascend/Lucent MAX TNT, APX, and Stinger WAN access shelves (TAOS 10.0.1+)
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls pctfiNetworkProfile-Enabled and pctfiNetworkProfile-Mode for a given shelf/slot/item entry to confirm a PCTFI link is enabled and provisioned as T1 or E1 as expected; a link showing enabled=no or an unexpected interface version (pctfiNetworkProfile-InterfaceVersion) would indicate a misprovisioned PCTFI network profile.
What Can Be Monitored
- PCTFI link enabled/disabled state
- physical shelf/slot/item addressing
- interface version (firstOffice/pelts)
- T1/E1 mode configuration
- per-link trace identifiers
