Category: Network Interfaces, Vendor: Ascend/Lucent

Description: Monitors PCTfi ISDN interface operational statistics on Ascend WAN access equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ASCEND-MIBPCTFISTAT-MIB?

This is a proprietary Ascend Communications MIB monitoring PCTfi (a proprietary ISDN framing/interface variant) operational statistics on Ascend WAN access equipment. It exposes ISDN interface performance counters and status indicators at the physical/data-link layer. It is used directly to monitor hardware status of ISDN interfaces — tracking error counts, link state, and signaling condition to detect failing ISDN lines or interface hardware. It parallels the spirit of the standard ISDN-MIB (RFC 2127) but is an Ascend-specific statistics extension. It is deployed on Ascend WAN access routers/concentrators terminating ISDN BRI/PRI lines for dial backup or primary WAN connectivity. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBPCTFISTAT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBPCTFISTAT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ascend WAN access router/concentrator with ISDN interfaces

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were captured, so exact table names are unconfirmed, but a PCTfi statistics MIB typically exposes a per-interface statistics table (an ascendPctfiStat*Table/Entry pattern) with counters for framing errors, CRC errors, and link-up/down transitions. An administrator would poll this table to catch a rising error counter on an ISDN interface, signaling a degrading physical line before it causes call failures.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ISDN interface error counters
  • link up/down transitions
  • framing/CRC error counts
  • interface operational status
