Category: DSL and Broadband, Vendor: Ascend/Lucent

Description: Manages DMT-based ADSL network interface configuration and line statistics on Ascend DSLAMs.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ASCEND-MIBDADSLNET-MIB?

ASCEND-MIBDADSLNET-MIB is an Ascend Communications (later Lucent/Avaya) proprietary MIB covering DMT-based ADSL (Discrete Multi-Tone Asymmetric DSL) network interfaces on Ascend DSLAM (DSL Access Multiplexer) equipment. It is expected to expose configuration objects for ADSL line provisioning as well as line-level statistics typical of DSL physical-layer monitoring. Its primary monitoring value is subscriber-line performance and fault detection — operators would use it to track per-line sync status and error counters to identify degraded or failing copper loops. It conceptually parallels the IETF's standard ADSL-LINE-MIB (RFC 2662) for DMT ADSL line objects. It was deployed in telecom central-office environments on Ascend DSLAMs aggregating residential/business ADSL subscriber lines. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBDADSLNET-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBDADSLNET-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ascend DSLAM (DSL Access Multiplexer) equipment

Monitoring Examples

No sample_objects or module_desc text were captured for this module in the source data, so no specific object or table names can be honestly cited. Based on its name and vendor context, a realistic use would be an operator polling per-line synchronization state and error counters to identify subscriber DSL lines with poor signal quality, but this cannot be grounded in concrete object names from the available data.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ADSL line sync/status
  • line attenuation and noise margin
  • line error counters
