Category: DSL and Broadband
Description: Manages HDSL 711D2 modem units, providing loop performance, alarm, and configuration objects for DSL access.

What Is HDSL711D2-MIB?
HDSL711D2-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from GDC (General DataComm) for the HDSL 711D2 modem, a High-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line unit used to carry digital circuits over standard copper pairs for DSL access/leased-line applications. It exposes a MIB-version identifier, system and firmware version objects, and a dedicated alarms group (hdsl711D2Alarms) with specific alarm flags for no-response, diagnostic receive-error, and power-up conditions. This MIB is explicitly a hardware-status/fault-monitoring MIB: hdsl711D2NoResponseAlm flags when the remote unit stops responding, hdsl711D2DiagRxErrAlm flags receive-side signal/diagnostic errors on the loop, and hdsl711D2PowerUpAlm flags a unit reboot/power event — all classic indicators of a failing physical DSL line or modem. It is a legacy, self-contained modem MIB with no significant dependency on IETF standard MIBs beyond baseline SNMP conventions. It's deployed at telco central offices or customer premises where an HDSL 711D2 modem terminates a leased digital circuit over copper. Engineers can download the HDSL711D2-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HDSL711D2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- GDC HDSL 711D2 modem
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll hdsl711D2Alarms and its member hdsl711D2NoResponseAlm to detect when the far-end HDSL unit has stopped answering, indicating a line cut or remote power failure. Watching hdsl711D2DiagRxErrAlm would reveal elevated receive errors on the loop, a precursor to a failing copper pair before a full outage occurs. hdsl711D2PowerUpAlm firing unexpectedly would alert staff that the modem rebooted, while gdc711D2SystemMIBversion and hdsl711D2Version confirm the deployed MIB/firmware revision for support purposes.
What Can Be Monitored
- no-response alarm
- diagnostic receive-error alarm
- power-up (reboot) alarm
- system/firmware version
