What Is ASCEND-MIBB52TEST-MIB?
ASCEND-MIBB52TEST-MIB is a proprietary Ascend MIB providing loopback and diagnostic test management for a WAN interface card/test type referred to as "B52." It exposes objects to initiate a loopback or diagnostic test on a specified card or port and to read back the resulting test status. This is explicitly a hardware-diagnostics MIB: it is used to actively verify the health of physical WAN interface hardware by running a controlled test and checking for pass, fail, or in-progress results, directly supporting hardware fault isolation. It operates alongside the physical line/interface MIBs in this family (such as T3 interface or HDSL2 MIBs) whose ports are the actual subject of the loopback tests. It was deployed on Ascend WAN access/trunk equipment during installation, maintenance windows, and fault isolation procedures. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBB52TEST-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBB52TEST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ascend WAN access/trunk equipment (e.g., MAX, TNT series)
Monitoring Examples
A technician sets a test-initiation object to start a B52 loopback on a specific card or port, then polls the corresponding test-result object to see whether it reports pass, fail, or still in-progress. A persistent fail result on the same port across repeated test runs points to a failing physical interface card that needs replacement. Test-result objects are typically checked before a suspect line is returned to production traffic.
What Can Be Monitored
- loopback test initiation
- diagnostic test status/result
- per-port or per-card test outcome
- test-in-progress state
