All MIBs › ASCEND-MIBAPSSTAT-MIB
Category: Optical and WDM, Vendor: Ascend/Lucent
Description: Monitors Automatic Protection Switching operational status and switch events on Ascend equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ASCEND-MIBAPSSTAT-MIB?
ASCEND-MIBAPSSTAT-MIB is the operational-status counterpart to ASCEND-MIBAPSCFG-MIB, reporting the live state of Automatic Protection Switching on Ascend SONET/SDH interfaces. It exposes which line (working or protect) is currently active and records switch events with their cause. This is fundamentally a fault-monitoring MIB: it detects and explains automatic failovers of the optical line, serving as an availability indicator for the physical SONET transport path. It complements ASCEND-MIBAPSCFG-MIB's configuration data and aligns with standard SONET/SDH status conventions. It was deployed on the same legacy Ascend/Lucent optical transport equipment used in telco access networks. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBAPSSTAT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBAPSSTAT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ascend/Lucent SONET/SDH WAN access equipment
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were captured for this module. Based on its stated purpose, it would expose a per-interface active-line indicator (working vs. protect) and a last-switch-event/reason object, which an operator monitors to detect that traffic failed over to the protect line, signaling a fault on the primary SONET line.
What Can Be Monitored
- active working/protect line state
- APS switch event history
- switch-over reason/cause
