Description: Provides SNMP management of Asante HUB1012 Ethernet repeater ports and statistics.

What Is ASANTE-HUB1012-MIB?

ASANTE-HUB1012-MIB is a vendor-specific legacy MIB from Asante Technologies for the HUB1012, an Ethernet repeater/hub device, providing SNMP management of its repeater ports and per-port traffic statistics. It is intended to expose port-level configuration (enable/disable, partition state) and counters such as collisions, errors, and packet counts typical of repeater-class devices from the era of shared Ethernet hubs. Its monitoring value is primarily hardware/port status: detecting a partitioned (auto-disabled) port due to excessive collisions or a jabbering NIC, and tracking per-port traffic/error counters to spot a failing cable segment or misbehaving attached device. It follows the general model of the IETF Repeater MIB (RFC 1516) conventions common to hub-class devices of its generation. It was deployed in legacy shared-Ethernet LAN environments using Asante hub hardware, where ASANTE-HUB1012-MIB SNMP monitoring tracked port health, now largely superseded by switched Ethernet.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASANTE-HUB1012-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this legacy module. Based on its stated purpose as a hub/repeater MIB, an administrator would typically poll per-port statistics to identify a port that has auto-partitioned itself off the shared segment due to excessive collisions, which would explain a device suddenly losing connectivity through the hub. Per-port error and collision counters would also be trended to spot a degrading cable or NIC on the shared LAN segment.
