Category: Network Interfaces

Description: Defines managed objects for DS0 Bundle interfaces, which aggregate multiple DS0 channels into a single logical higher-bandwidth interface.

IPNetwork Monitor uses several OIDs from this MIB in network discovery and polling the applicable devices. Start monitoring DS0BUNDLE-MIB with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor.

What Is DS0BUNDLE-MIB?

DS0BUNDLE-MIB is a vendor-neutral IETF MIB that defines managed objects for DS0 Bundle interfaces, which aggregate multiple individual 64 kbps DS0 channels into a single logical higher-bandwidth interface (commonly used for inverse multiplexing or bonded circuits). It exposes configuration tables for how DS0 channels are grouped into a bundle and a separate bonding table describing the bonding mode and operational status of the aggregated link. Its monitoring value centers on the operational/fault status of the bundled circuit, letting an operator confirm whether the bonded DS0 group is up, in a degraded bonding mode, or has lost synchronization across member channels, a link-level hardware/interface health indicator rather than CPU or environmental data. It relies on the standard IF-MIB for the underlying ifIndex of member interfaces and is a companion to the broader DS1/DS3/T1 line MIBs used in TDM access networks. It is deployed on TDM/carrier access equipment such as multiplexers and channel banks that bond multiple DS0 timeslots into higher-capacity circuits. Engineers implementing or auditing this functionality typically reference the DS0BUNDLE-MIB RFC/standard documentation for the authoritative specification.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DS0BUNDLE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer
  • TDM multiplexer / channel bank supporting DS0 bonding

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll dsx0BundleTable/dsx0BundleEntry (indexed by dsx0BundleIndex, linked to dsx0BundleIfIndex) to identify which DS0 channels belong to a given bundle and its dsx0BundleCircuitIdentifier, then check dsx0BondingTable/dsx0BondingEntry for dsx0BondMode and dsx0BondStatus to see whether the bonded circuit is fully synchronized or has member channels out of alignment. A dsx0BondStatus showing a degraded or down state while dsx0BundleRowStatus remains active would indicate a partial bonding failure needing investigation.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DS0 bundle membership
  • bundle circuit identifier
  • bonding mode
  • bonding operational status
  • bundle row status
