What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-LLDP-EXT-MIB?

A3COM-HUAWEI-LLDP-EXT-MIB is an H3C/3Com-Huawei joint-venture enterprise MIB that extends the standard IEEE 802.1AB LLDP MIB with additional vendor-specific TLV types and CDP-compatibility status, enabling richer neighbor discovery data on H3C switches. It exposes global and per-port LLDP administrative status along with CDP compliance status, letting the device advertise/receive CDP-compatible TLVs alongside standard LLDP. Administrators use it to monitor the software-level neighbor discovery configuration and status, such as whether LLDP is enabled globally/per-port and whether CDP compatibility mode is active, which helps ensure accurate topology discovery for network mapping tools. It explicitly extends and depends on the standard LLDP-MIB (IEEE 802.1AB), adding H3C-specific compliance objects on top of it. It is deployed on H3C/3Com-Huawei switches in mixed-vendor networks where CDP-speaking Cisco devices coexist with H3C equipment, and A3COM-HUAWEI-LLDP-EXT-MIB SNMP monitoring helps confirm accurate neighbor discovery across both protocols.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-LLDP-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C/3Com-Huawei managed switch

Monitoring Examples

An admin would check h3clldpAdminStatus to confirm LLDP is globally enabled, then poll h3clldpPortConfigTable/h3clldpPortConfigEntry indexed by h3clldpPortConfigPortNum to verify h3clldpPortConfigCDPComplianceStatus on each port, ensuring CDP-compatible TLVs are being exchanged with adjacent Cisco equipment. A port unexpectedly reporting CDP compliance disabled would explain why a neighboring Cisco device's topology tool fails to discover the H3C switch.

What Can Be Monitored

  • global LLDP admin status
  • per-port LLDP configuration
  • per-port CDP compliance status
  • neighbor discovery TLV support
