Description: Aruba wired switch ArubaOS-CX line card module inventory and operational status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ARUBAWIRED-MODULE-MIB?

This is an HPE Aruba proprietary MIB for ArubaOS-CX wired switches that manages line-card and other pluggable module components within a modular switch chassis. It exposes hardware inventory data (module type, product description, serial and product numbers) and operational/administrative state for each module slot, along with module insertion/removal notifications. It is a hardware status MIB: an administrator uses it to confirm which modules are installed in which slots, check arubaWiredModuleState and arubaWiredModuleAdminState to see whether a module is operationally up and administratively enabled, and receive traps when a module's state changes — key for detecting a failed, missing, or newly inserted line card. It works alongside the Aruba wired fan and distributed-services MIBs, all sharing a similar group/type/slot indexing scheme for describing the same physical chassis. It is deployed on modular ArubaOS-CX switches in enterprise and data center environments where line cards are hot-swappable and their health must be tracked. Engineers can download the ARUBAWIRED-MODULE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARUBAWIRED-MODULE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aruba ArubaOS-CX wired switch (modular chassis)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls arubaWiredModuleTable (indexed by arubaWiredModuleGroupIndex, arubaWiredModuleTypeIndex, arubaWiredModuleSlotIndex) to read arubaWiredModuleState, arubaWiredModuleAdminState, and arubaWiredModuleSerialNumber for each installed module, and watches arubaWiredModuleNotifications for state-change traps. A module reporting arubaWiredModuleState as down or absent while arubaWiredModuleAdminState is still enabled indicates a failed or removed line card that needs attention.

What Can Be Monitored

  • installed module inventory (type, serial/product number)
  • module operational state
  • module administrative state
  • module insertion/removal notifications
