What Is LIGO-W-JET-MIB?

LIGO-W-JET-MIB is a vendor MIB from LigoWave for its W-Jet series of point-to-point wireless backhaul radio links, covering the wireless interface's protocol-level configuration and behavior. It exposes a wireless interface configuration table controlling data rate, acknowledgment rate/timeout, transmit queue depth, receive timeout, frame aggregation limits, and clear-channel-assessment (CCA) threshold for the radio link. Its monitoring/status value centers on radio link performance and software configuration health: an oversized TX queue or aggressive CCA threshold can reveal RF interference or congestion on the backhaul link, and mismatched ACK timeout/rate settings between link ends can explain throughput problems, functioning as a proxy for wireless link software status rather than classic hardware sensors. It appears to be a self-contained enterprise MIB layered on the device's own wireless interface indexing, with no strong dependency on other standard MIBs evident from the available description. It is typically deployed on LigoWave W-Jet outdoor point-to-point wireless bridge radios used for wireless backhaul or building-to-building links in WISP and enterprise networks. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the LIGO-W-JET-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LIGO-W-JET-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • LigoWave W-Jet point-to-point wireless backhaul radio

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll wJetWrlssIfConfTable/wJetWrlssIfConfEntry indexed by wJetIfIndex to check wJetIfDataRate and wJetIfAckRate against expected link settings, and wJetIfAckTimeout to confirm it's tuned appropriately for the link distance (too short a timeout on a long-haul link causes retransmits). wJetIfTxQueueMaxLength climbing toward its configured maximum would indicate the radio can't drain traffic fast enough, a sign of RF congestion or a downstream bottleneck. wJetIfCcaThreshold and wJetIfMaxAggregBytes/wJetIfMaxAggregPackets would be checked together to diagnose whether aggressive channel-access or aggregation settings are contributing to instability on the link.

What Can Be Monitored

  • wireless interface data rate
  • ACK rate and timeout
  • TX queue length
  • RX timeout
  • frame aggregation limits

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using wJetP2pRxStart OID:

Select a LigoWave W-Jet point-to-point wireless backhaul radio as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type wJetP2pRxStart into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. It reports the number of RX window Start packets received. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline (in packets), since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
