Description: Aruba wired switch ArubaOS-CX IP telephony (CIPT) LLDP-MED and PoE phone management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ARUBAWIRED-CIPT-MIB?
This is an HPE Aruba proprietary MIB (the module description notes it originates from HP client IP tracker MIBs) for ArubaOS-CX wired switches, managing Client IP Telephony (CIPT) tracking used for LLDP-MED-based IP phone discovery and PoE-powered phone management. It exposes configuration data (global, VLAN-level, and port-level CIPT settings) as well as inventory/state data about tracked IP telephony clients discovered on the switch. Its monitoring value lies in confirming which IP phones are currently detected and tracked on which switch ports and VLANs, which is useful for validating that VoIP devices are properly recognized, powered, and following expected LLDP-MED negotiation, and for spotting phones that unexpectedly drop off the tracked-client list. It builds on standard LLDP-MED and PoE concepts (IEEE 802.3af/at, 802.1AB) even though it is implemented as an Aruba/HP proprietary MIB. It is deployed on ArubaOS-CX wired access switches in enterprise networks running VoIP/IP telephony over PoE. Engineers can download the ARUBAWIRED-CIPT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARUBAWIRED-CIPT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Aruba ArubaOS-CX wired switch
Monitoring Examples
An administrator can poll arubaWiredCiptTrackedClients alongside arubaWiredCiptPortConfig and arubaWiredCiptVlanConfig to see which IP phones are currently tracked on each switch port and VLAN, and check arubaWiredCiptGlobalConfig to confirm CIPT tracking is enabled switch-wide. A phone disappearing from arubaWiredCiptTrackedClients while remaining physically connected would suggest an LLDP-MED negotiation or PoE power problem on that port.
What Can Be Monitored
- CIPT global/VLAN/port configuration
- tracked IP phone clients
- per-port IP telephony client presence
