Description: ARRIS D5 video edge resource manager configuration for stream routing and grooming.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ARRIS-D5-VIDEO-ERM-MIB?
ARRIS-D5-VIDEO-ERM-MIB is a vendor-specific module for the ARRIS D5 platform, a converged cable access/video edge device, managing the Edge Resource Manager (ERM) software responsible for video stream routing and grooming. It exposes configuration-oriented data about ERM components, streaming zones, and per-instance connection parameters such as local/remote IP addressing and VREP port, alongside operational thresholds like hold time and bandwidth interval/threshold. While primarily a configuration MIB, its bandwidth threshold and hold-time objects also let an operator monitor the software-level health of the ERM process, e.g. whether a stream-routing session is within configured bandwidth limits or has stalled. It is a component-specific extension to the broader ARRIS D5 MIB family rather than a standards-based MIB. It is deployed in cable operator headends or hubs where the ARRIS D5 platform provides video edge/QAM and CCAP functionality. Engineers can download the ARRIS-D5-VIDEO-ERM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARRIS-D5-VIDEO-ERM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ARRIS D5 video edge/CCAP platform
Monitoring Examples
An operator would walk d5ErmTable (via d5ErmEntry, keyed effectively by d5ErmName) to see each ERM instance's d5ErmDescription, d5ErmLocalIpAddress, and d5ErmRemoteIpName, confirming that video stream routing peers are correctly paired. Watching d5ErmBwInterval and d5ErmBwThreshold reveals whether a streaming zone (d5ErmStreamingZone) is approaching its configured bandwidth ceiling, an early sign of video service degradation. A d5ErmHoldTime that repeatedly expires could indicate a stalled remote connection via d5ErmRemoteIpName.
What Can Be Monitored
- ERM component name and description
- streaming zone assignment
- local/remote IP addressing per ERM entry
- VREP port
- hold time
- bandwidth interval and threshold
