Description: ARRIS D5 video platform environmental sensor threshold configuration and alarm management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ARRIS-D5-ENT-SENSOR-THRESH-MIB?

This module is ARRIS's proprietary extension of RFC 3433's ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB for the D5 Universal Edge QAM, a cable headend video/data delivery device, adding vendor-specific sensor threshold configuration and alarm handling. It exposes categories of data covering environmental sensor threshold settings (e.g., high/low limits) and the resulting alarm/notification state when a sensor reading crosses a configured boundary. Its central purpose is hardware health monitoring — it lets an operator configure temperature, voltage, or other environmental thresholds on the D5 chassis and be alarmed when the physical hardware drifts out of safe operating range, an early warning against overheating or power problems. It explicitly depends on and extends the standard RFC 3433 ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB, reusing its sensor entity model while adding ARRIS-specific threshold and alarm objects. It is deployed in cable headends and hubs on D5 Universal Edge QAM chassis where proactive environmental alarming protects the video/data delivery hardware. Engineers can download the ARRIS-D5-ENT-SENSOR-THRESH-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARRIS-D5-ENT-SENSOR-THRESH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ARRIS D5 Universal Edge QAM
  • cable headend/hub video delivery equipment

Monitoring Examples

No specific sensor threshold object or table names were included in the sampled instrumentation for this module, so a concrete OID-level polling example cannot be given; in general, an operator would configure per-sensor threshold objects (extending the standard entPhySensorValue objects from ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB) and monitor the resulting alarm state to catch a D5 chassis running hotter or with voltage drifting outside its configured safe range.

What Can Be Monitored

  • environmental sensor threshold configuration
  • sensor threshold-breach alarm status
