Category: Network Monitoring (RMON)

Description: Armillaire 2000 network monitoring system probe and alert management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ARMILLAIRE2000-MIB?

ARMILLAIRE2000-MIB is a vendor MIB for the Armillaire 2000 network monitoring/probe system, used to manage and report on switches monitored by Armillaire's own management platform. It exposes per-switch identity and status data, name, description, location, contact, IP address, uptime, software version/description, type, and name-status, plus a table of PC/host information observed by the switch. Its monitoring emphasis is strongly on hardware/software status, switch uptime and software version serve as core health and inventory indicators, while descriptive/status fields support consistency checks across managed switches. It appears to be a largely self-contained vendor MIB, using its own products/services subtree without heavy reliance on other standard MIBs. It is deployed in networks using Armillaire's monitoring probes/appliances, where ARMILLAIRE2000-MIB SNMP monitoring tracks managed switches and the end-hosts connected to them.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARMILLAIRE2000-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • network monitoring probe/appliance (Armillaire 2000 system)
  • managed network switches

Monitoring Examples

switchUpTime and switchVersion/switchVerDescr let an admin confirm how long a given switch has been running and which firmware version it's on, useful for spotting an unexpected reboot or an out-of-date version. switchIPAddr, switchName, and switchNameStatus identify and validate each monitored switch's naming/addressing consistency, while switchPcInfoTable provides visibility into the hosts/PCs attached to a given switch, useful for detecting an unexpected or unauthorized device on the network.

What Can Be Monitored

  • switch uptime
  • software/firmware version
  • switch name/description/location/contact
  • switch IP address
  • attached PC/host information
