Description: Alvarion virtual access point configuration and status for multi-SSID wireless deployments.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALVARION-VIRTUAL-AP-MIB?
ALVARION-VIRTUAL-AP-MIB is Alvarion's proprietary MIB for configuring virtual access points (multiple SSIDs on one radio) on its wireless broadband/Wi-Fi equipment. It exposes per-virtual-AP configuration: SSID name and broadcast state, VLAN assignment, maximum allowed users, and the security/authentication scheme applied. Its monitoring value is largely configuration/software status: confirming a given SSID is actually broadcasting, checking whether its user limit is being approached, and verifying which authentication mode and profile are bound to it - all of which catch misconfigurations such as an unintentionally open or oversubscribed virtual AP. It builds on general 802.11 multi-SSID concepts but is implemented as an Alvarion-proprietary module, with authentication profile indices referencing the vendor's own auth-profile tables. It is deployed on Alvarion access points/base stations serving multiple logical WLANs (e.g., guest, staff, tenant) from shared radio hardware. Engineers can download the ALVARION-VIRTUAL-AP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALVARION-VIRTUAL-AP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alvarion wireless access points/base stations supporting virtual AP (multi-SSID)
Monitoring Examples
coVirtualAccessPointConfigTable/coVirtualAccessPointConfigEntry, indexed by coVirtualApWlanProfileIndex, exposes coVirtualApSSID, coVirtualApBroadcastSSID, and coVirtualApMaximumNumberOfUsers, letting an admin confirm a guest SSID is broadcasting and not near its user cap. coVirtualApSecurity, coVirtualApAuthenMode, and coVirtualApAuthenProfileIndex show which authentication scheme and profile are bound to each virtual AP, which would reveal a virtual AP accidentally left with weak or no authentication.
What Can Be Monitored
- SSID name and broadcast status per virtual AP
- maximum users allowed per virtual AP
- default VLAN assignment
- security/authentication mode configured
- user accounting profile binding

RFC description
SNMP MIB for managing virtual access point functionality on Alvarion wireless devices, supporting end-to-end QoS, VLAN configuration, 802.11i and 802.1x security features with centralized SNMP management capabilities.
Start monitoring Alvarion (Cambium) wireless broadband access points/base stations (legacy) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
