Description: Alvarion wireless device 802.1X access control MIB for managing port authentication and EAP supplicant configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALVARION-802DOT1X-ACCESS-MIB?
ALVARION-802DOT1X-ACCESS-MIB is a vendor extension MIB from Alvarion, a wireless broadband and WiMAX/BWA equipment maker, adding 802.1X port-based access control settings on top of the standard IEEE 802.1X PAE model. It exposes configuration objects for the authenticator's timers and behavior, including quiet period, transmit period, supplicant/server timeouts, max request retries, and re-authentication interval/enable/max-count settings, plus a system-level key-modification interval. Its monitoring/management value is software configuration state for network access security: confirming re-authentication is enabled and correctly timed, and that authentication timers are set to values appropriate for the deployment, which affects how quickly rogue or disconnected supplicants are detected. It explicitly extends the standard IEEE 802.1X PAE MIB rather than replacing it. It is deployed on Alvarion wireless access/base station equipment enforcing port-based network access control for subscriber or backhaul links, and the ALVARION-802DOT1X-ACCESS-MIB download lets administrators load it directly into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALVARION-802DOT1X-ACCESS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alvarion wireless base station/access equipment
Monitoring Examples
An operator checks coDot1xAuthReAuthEnabled and coDot1xAuthReAuthPeriod to confirm periodic re-authentication is active and reasonably timed, and reviews coDot1xAuthMaxReq alongside coDot1xAuthServerTimeout to ensure authentication requests aren't being dropped due to overly aggressive retry/timeout settings. coDot1xAuthQuietPeriod and coDot1xAuthTxPeriod govern how the authenticator paces retries after a failed attempt, and misconfigured values here could explain slow or failed client authentication reported by subscribers. coDot1xPaeSystemModifyKeyInterval lets an admin confirm the group key rotation schedule.
What Can Be Monitored
- 802.1x re-authentication status and interval
- authentication server/supplicant timeouts
- max authentication request retries
- quiet period and transmit period timers
- key modification interval
