Description: Alvarion Wireless Distribution System (WDS) link configuration and status monitoring.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALVARION-WDS-MIB?
ALVARION-WDS-MIB is a vendor enterprise MIB from Alvarion for configuring and monitoring Wireless Distribution System (WDS) links, which bridge multiple access points together wirelessly rather than through wired backhaul. It exposes global WDS group settings, a per-radio table (ack distance, QoS mode), and a group table defining WDS group name, index, and state. Its monitoring purpose is software/link-state health: confirming which WDS groups are configured and their current state (e.g., up/down), whether dynamic mode is implemented, and whether per-radio ACK distance (which compensates for link propagation delay) is tuned correctly for the physical distance between nodes. It is a self-contained enterprise MIB reflecting Alvarion's proprietary WDS implementation rather than an IETF standard. It is deployed in Alvarion outdoor/point-to-point or point-to-multipoint wireless bridge deployments connecting access points over WDS links, with network engineers typically starting an ALVARION-WDS-MIB download to load the module into their monitoring platform before polling WDS group status.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALVARION-WDS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alvarion wireless access point/bridge equipment
Monitoring Examples
An operator checks coWDSGroupTable/coWDSGroupEntry keyed by coWDSGroupIndex to read coWDSGroupName and coWDSGroupState, confirming a given WDS bridge group is up. coWDSRadioTable/coWDSRadioEntry keyed by coWDSRadioIndex exposes coWDSRadioAckDistance, which if misconfigured relative to the actual link distance can cause packet loss or reduced throughput on long-range WDS links. coWDSDynamicModeImplemented and coWDSNumberOfGroup give a quick system-wide view of how many WDS groups are configured and whether dynamic WDS negotiation is supported.
What Can Be Monitored
- WDS group state (up/down)
- configured WDS groups count
- per-radio ACK distance setting
- per-radio QoS mode
- dynamic WDS mode support
