Description: Alpha Technologies notification MIB defining trap OIDs for power system alarms, events, and status changes.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ALPHA-NOTIFICATION-MIB?

ALPHA-NOTIFICATION-MIB is a vendor MIB from Alpha Technologies defining the SNMP trap/notification OIDs used by its power system controllers, such as UPS and DC power plant products used in telecom sites. It exposes no polled data objects itself - its entire content is a set of notification (trap) definitions covering power system alarms, events, and status changes. Because it's purely a notification-defining module, its role in monitoring is asynchronous: it signals hardware fault conditions (e.g., power supply/rectifier alarms, battery events) as they occur rather than exposing polled counters for uptime, temperature, or CPU. It presumably works alongside a companion Alpha Technologies status/data MIB that defines the underlying objects referenced by these traps. It's typically deployed in telecom central office or cell site power plants and battery/rectifier systems managed by system controllers. Engineers can download the ALPHA-NOTIFICATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALPHA-NOTIFICATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alpha Technologies power system controllers (UPS/DC power plants)

Monitoring Examples

This is a notification-only module with no polled runtime data objects in the sample; it defines trap OIDs that a controller emits, such as alarms tied to power system state changes, rather than pollable status values. An NMS would configure trap reception for these OIDs so that when the Alpha system controller detects an alarm condition (e.g., a power failure or threshold breach), it immediately notifies the management station rather than the admin having to poll for the fault.

What Can Be Monitored

  • power system alarm notifications
  • power event notifications
  • status change notifications
