Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch SNMP agent MIB for managing community strings, trap destinations, and agent security settings.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALCATEL-IND1-SNMP-AGENT-MIB?
ALCATEL-IND1-SNMP-AGENT-MIB is an Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch proprietary MIB for the switch's own SNMP Agent subsystem, covering community strings, trap destinations, and agent-level security settings. It exposes the agent's security level and community access mode along with a broader agent configuration group. Its monitoring role is largely about management-plane software status: confirming the SNMP agent's own security posture so that an administrator can verify the management channel itself has not been weakened or left in a default/insecure state. It supplements the standard SNMP-COMMUNITY-MIB and SNMPv3 USM/VACM framework with Alcatel-specific agent security-level controls rather than replacing them. It is deployed on every OmniSwitch device where SNMP-based management is used, since it governs the agent that services the very polling described here. Engineers can download the ALCATEL-IND1-SNMP-AGENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-SNMP-AGENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch switches
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll snmpAgtSecurityLevel and snmpAgtCommunityMode to confirm the switch's SNMP agent is enforcing the intended security posture, for instance requiring authenticated access rather than plain community strings. Checking snmpAgtConfig for trap destination settings would confirm whether traps are being forwarded to the expected NMS. If snmpAgtCommunityMode showed a less restrictive setting than intended, that would flag a security regression in how the switch itself is being managed.
What Can Be Monitored
- SNMP agent security level
- community access mode
- trap destination configuration
