Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch high-availability VLAN MIB for managing redundant uplink groups and failover behavior.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ALCATEL-IND1-HA-VLAN-MIB?

ALCATEL-IND1-HA-VLAN-MIB is Alcatel's proprietary OmniSwitch MIB for High-Availability VLAN functionality, used to manage redundant uplink groups and control failover behavior between them. Although its object list wasn't available for this module beyond generic IMPORTS, based on its name and short description it defines configuration and status objects for HA-VLAN groups, member/backup uplinks, and current active-uplink state. Its monitoring value would center on confirming which uplink in a redundant HA-VLAN group is currently active and detecting an unexpected or repeated failover between primary and backup uplinks, which is a software/link-state health indicator for that switch's uplink redundancy. It is a proprietary module used alongside other Alcatel OmniSwitch chassis and VLAN MIBs, such as ALCATEL-IND1-CHASSIS-MIB, on the same platform rather than any IETF standard. It's deployed on Alcatel/Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch access switches that use HA-VLAN to provide dual-homed uplink redundancy to distribution/core switches. Engineers can download the ALCATEL-IND1-HA-VLAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-HA-VLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alcatel/Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch access switch

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll the HA-VLAN group's active-uplink status object to confirm traffic is currently flowing over the intended primary uplink port rather than the backup, and check failover-count or last-failover-time objects, where present, to see how often the group has switched over. Because the sample object list for this MIB was empty in the source data, in practice engineers cross-reference the HA-VLAN group's configured primary/backup port assignments against actual VLAN port membership from AIPORTVLAN-style or IF-MIB data. A group unexpectedly running on its backup uplink usually indicates the primary uplink port or its upstream link has failed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active vs. backup uplink state
  • HA-VLAN group configuration
  • uplink failover occurrence
  • redundant uplink group membership
