What Is ALCATEL-IND1-DOT1Q-MIB?

ALCATEL-IND1-DOT1Q-MIB is an Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch ("Birds of Prey" line) proprietary MIB implementing IEEE 802.1Q VLAN-to-port/slot assignment, complementing the standard 802.1Q bridge MIB with Alcatel-specific tagging controls. It exposes VLAN configuration data -- per-slot/port VLAN tag assignments, tagging mode, administrative status, descriptive names, and aggregate-port (link aggregation) VLAN tag mappings. Its monitoring role is primarily configuration/software-state visibility: confirming which VLAN tags are bound to which slot/port or aggregate, and whether a port's VLAN entry is administratively enabled, rather than reporting hardware fault data. It is explicitly built as an image/extension of the IEEE 802.1Q standard and the industry-standard Q-BRIDGE-MIB, adding Alcatel's slot/port addressing scheme on top. It is typically used on Alcatel/Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch enterprise switches to audit and manage VLAN tagging across physical ports and link-aggregation groups. Engineers can download the ALCATEL-IND1-DOT1Q-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-DOT1Q-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alcatel/Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch enterprise switch (Birds of Prey product line)

Monitoring Examples

An operator queries qPortVlanTable (entries keyed by qPortVlanSlot and qPortVlanPort) to check qPortVlanTagValue and qPortVlanStatus, confirming a given port is correctly tagged into its intended VLAN. If a port shows an unexpected qPortVlanTagValue or an administratively down qPortVlanStatus, that flags a VLAN misconfiguration; the parallel qAggregateVlanTable (keyed by qAggregateVlanAggregateId) verifies VLAN tagging is applied consistently across an aggregated link.

What Can Be Monitored

  • VLAN tag assignment per slot/port
  • VLAN tagging mode/status
  • VLAN description
  • aggregate (LAG) VLAN tag assignment
