What Is ALCATEL-IND1-DOT1X-MIB?

ALCATEL-IND1-DOT1X-MIB is an Alcatel-Lucent enterprise-specific MIB (alcatelIND1Dot1XMIB, registered under the softentIND1Dot1X branch) that manages IEEE 802.1X port-based network access control on Alcatel-Lucent's 'Birds Of Prey' OmniSwitch product line, extending it into a broader network-access-classification system. Alongside a (now deprecated) legacy per-port supplicant table, alaDot1xPortTable, it defines rich textual conventions for classification and authentication outcomes -- ALADot1xClassificationPolicyType (802.1X, MAC, group-mobility, default-VLAN, block, and multiple captive-portal variants), ALADot1xAuthenticationType, ALADot1xAuthenticationResult, and ALADot1xMacLearntState (bridging, filtering, host-integrity-check-in-progress, QMR-in-progress) -- that describe how each device on a port was classified and whether it is currently permitted onto the network. This lets an operator determine not just whether 802.1X authentication succeeded, but which classification policy (802.1X, MAC auth, captive portal, or a fallback default-VLAN/block rule) actually admitted or blocked a given device. It depends on the standard IEEE8021-PAE-MIB (dot1xPaePortNumber) and IF-MIB for port indexing, and is deployed on OmniSwitch access-layer switches enforcing NAC policy. Administrators can download the ALCATEL-IND1-DOT1X-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-DOT1X-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch (Birds Of Prey product line)

Monitoring Examples

An operator checks alaDot1xSupplicantPolicyUsed for a port reporting failed access to see whether the device fell back to captivePortalBlock or aaaAuthSvrDownBlock; a rising count of ports landing on the RADIUS-down block policies would indicate the authentication server is unreachable rather than a per-device credential problem.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port supplicant/device authentication state
  • classification policy applied per device (802.1X/MAC/captive portal/default-VLAN/block)
  • authentication result per device
  • MAC-learnt state (bridging/filtering/host-check-in-progress)
  • device type (supplicant vs. non-supplicant)
