Description: HH3C MIB for Per-VLAN Spanning Tree (PVST) configuration and topology state on H3C switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HH3C-PVST-MIB?
This is an H3C (New H3C, formerly Huawei-3Com) private MIB for managing Per-VLAN Spanning Tree (PVST), a Cisco-compatible spanning tree variant that runs an independent spanning tree instance per VLAN rather than one shared instance across all VLANs. It exposes configuration and topology-state data organized around per-VLAN and per-VLAN-per-port tables, letting a management station see which VLANs have PVST enabled and the spanning tree role/state of each port within each VLAN instance. Its monitoring value is chiefly topological/software status rather than hardware sensors, catching VLANs stuck in a blocking or discarding state, ports flapping between forwarding and blocking, or VLAN spanning-tree instances that failed to converge, all common causes of intermittent Layer 2 loops or connectivity loss. It builds on the IEEE 802.1D/802.1Q spanning tree and VLAN standards, extended with H3C-specific per-VLAN objects and notification events. It is typically deployed on H3C/HPE-badged enterprise switches in Layer 2 networks that need per-VLAN topology control, such as data center access/aggregation layers. Engineers can download the HH3C-PVST-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-PVST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C/New H3C enterprise switch
- HPE-badged (H3C-derived) switch
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll hh3cPvstVlanConfigTable/hh3cPvstVlanConfigEntry keyed by hh3cPvstVlanID to confirm which VLANs have PVST active, then cross-reference hh3cPvstVlanPortConfigTable via hh3cPvstPortVlanID and hh3cPvstPortIndex to see the spanning-tree state of each port within a given VLAN instance. A port stuck in blocking state for a VLAN that should be forwarding would indicate a misconfigured trunk or a spanning-tree convergence problem for that VLAN. The hh3cPvstEvents/hh3cPvstNotifications objects would additionally be used to catch topology-change traps as they occur rather than only on poll.
What Can Be Monitored
- PVST-enabled VLANs
- per-VLAN port spanning-tree state
- per-VLAN port role (root/designated/blocking)
- spanning-tree topology change events
