Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch embedded DHCP server MIB for managing address pools, leases, and server configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALCATEL-IND1-DHCP-SRV-MIB?
ALCATEL-IND1-DHCP-SRV-MIB is an Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise proprietary MIB for the OmniSwitch "Birds Of Prey" product line's embedded DHCP server feature, used to dynamically assign IP addresses to clients directly from the switch. It exposes global configuration/control scalars (enable status, restart, clear statistics) and a lease table listing each active lease's client IP address, MAC address, lease grant/expiry times, lease type, and threshold status, plus a traps object for DHCP-related notifications. For monitoring it lets an administrator track how many leases are active, detect when the address pool is nearing exhaustion via the threshold status, and confirm the DHCP server process is running (via global config status) rather than stalled or disabled. It functions independently of, but conceptually parallels, the IETF DHCP protocol (RFC 2131) which it implements at the wire-protocol level. It is typically deployed on Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch access/edge switches used to provide embedded DHCP service to directly connected end-user or IoT devices. Engineers can download the ALCATEL-IND1-DHCP-SRV-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-DHCP-SRV-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch (Birds Of Prey product line) with embedded DHCP server
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll alaDhcpSrvGlobalConfigStatus to confirm the embedded DHCP server process is enabled, and walk alaDhcpSrvLeaseTable/alaDhcpSrvLeaseEntry to inspect alaDhcpSrvLeaseLeaseExpiry and alaDhcpSrvLeaseThresholdStatus for each client. A lease threshold status flipping to a warning state would reveal the address pool is running low, while a lease with an unusually short alaDhcpSrvLeaseLeaseGrant-to-expiry window could indicate client churn or a rogue device.
What Can Be Monitored
- DHCP server process status
- active lease count
- lease expiry time
- address pool threshold status
- client MAC-to-IP lease mapping
