Description: Declares agent capability for the Cisco IP network topology discovery MIB.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-IP-NW-DISCOVERY-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-IP-NW-DISCOVERY-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module declaring support for CISCO-IP-NW-DISCOVERY-MIB, which relates to Cisco's IP network topology discovery features. It belongs to the network discovery/topology management conformance area and, as a capability module, defines no runtime tables or counters itself. It plays no direct role in monitoring hardware/software operational status; its purpose is solely to tell a management application which discovery-related objects are supported before it attempts to poll the base MIB. It is entirely dependent on the referenced CISCO-IP-NW-DISCOVERY-MIB. It is used during NMS onboarding for Cisco devices participating in automated network topology discovery. Engineers can download the CISCO-IP-NW-DISCOVERY-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-IP-NW-DISCOVERY-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco routers and switches supporting network topology discovery

Monitoring Examples

This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects; sample_objects is empty. It exists only to declare which parts of CISCO-IP-NW-DISCOVERY-MIB are implemented, not to expose monitorable discovery data itself.
