Category: Network Interfaces

Description: Manages link table entries and WAN connection parameters on AI-series network access devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AIILINKTABLE-MIB?

AIILINKTABLE-MIB is a vendor MIB for AI-series WAN access devices defining a single link table used to enumerate and describe WAN/data links configured on the device. It exposes per-link configuration attributes: link type, description, and the mapping between a logical link and up to several underlying physical/logical interface indexes (aiLinkIfIndex1-4, aiLinkPhysIf). Because it ties link entries back to ifIndex values, it supports monitoring the operational mapping of WAN links to physical interfaces, letting an admin verify link configuration is consistent with the underlying interface layer, though it stops short of exposing deep hardware health metrics like temperature or power. It builds on the standard IF-MIB ifIndex convention for interface correlation, and includes its own conformance group and compliance statements. It is typically deployed on WAN access or multiplexer devices where several physical/logical channels are bundled or cross-referenced under named links. Engineers can download the AIILINKTABLE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AIILINKTABLE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • AI-series WAN access devices
  • network access/multiplexer equipment

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll aiLinkTable/aiLinkEntry indexed by aiLinkIndex to enumerate configured links, reading aiLinkType and aiLinkDescr to identify each link's purpose, and aiLinkIfIndex/aiLinkIfIndex1-4 plus aiLinkPhysIf to confirm which physical interfaces back a given link. A mismatch between an expected aiLinkType and the actual bound aiLinkPhysIf, or a link entry pointing to an ifIndex that is administratively down, would reveal a misconfigured or failed WAN link.

What Can Be Monitored

  • link type
  • link description
  • link-to-interface index mapping
  • physical interface binding
  • number of configured links
