Description: Manages Aerohive Mesh Routing Protocol (MRP) configuration and neighbor status on Aerohive wireless network devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AH-MRP-MIB?

AH-MRP-MIB is an Aerohive Networks proprietary MIB for the Mesh Routing Protocol (MRP), used to manage mesh backhaul links between Aerohive wireless access points. It exposes a neighbor table capturing each mesh neighbor's AP identifier, link cost, RSSI (signal strength), link uptime, and link type, along with detailed traffic counters for received data, management, unicast, and multicast frames. Its monitoring focus is squarely on wireless mesh link health and performance: RSSI and link cost reveal signal quality and routing preference, link uptime shows link stability, and the receive-frame counters reveal traffic load and potential frame-loss issues on the mesh backhaul. It is a self-contained Aerohive extension MIB without strong dependency on other standard MIBs, though it parallels general wireless mesh routing concepts. It is deployed in Aerohive enterprise Wi-Fi deployments using mesh backhaul to extend coverage without wired uplinks at every AP, typically after an AH-MRP-MIB download to load the module into a MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AH-MRP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aerohive wireless mesh access points

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll ahNeighborTable/ahNeighborEntry to check ahRSSI and ahLinkCost for each mesh neighbor identified by ahNeighberAPId, watching for a neighbor whose RSSI has dropped, explaining a routing-cost increase and possible mesh link instability. Checking ahLinkUptime alongside ahRxDataFrames, ahRxUnicastFrames, and ahRxMulticastFrames would reveal whether a recently-flapped link is now carrying expected traffic volumes again. A low ahRSSI combined with a high ahLinkCost would explain why the mesh routing protocol is preferring an alternate neighbor path.

What Can Be Monitored

  • mesh neighbor RSSI (signal strength)
  • mesh link cost
  • mesh link uptime and type
  • received data/management/unicast/multicast frame counts
