What Is CISCO-DOT11-HT-MAC-MIB?

CISCO-DOT11-HT-MAC-MIB is a Cisco wireless LAN MIB covering the MAC-layer parameters of 802.11n High-Throughput (HT) radios on Cisco access points, defining per-station and per-radio configuration/capability objects related to frame aggregation and power-save behavior. It exposes objects like operational MCS (modulation and coding scheme) set, MIMO power-save mode, AMPDU/AMSDU aggregation support and limits (max AMSDU length, max Rx AMPDU factor, MPDU density), and various 802.11n feature-implemented flags (delayed block ACK, PSMP, STBC control frames, L-SIG TXOP protection, PCO). Its monitoring role is centered on wireless software/protocol configuration status rather than physical hardware sensors — confirming a client station or radio's negotiated HT capabilities and aggregation settings match expectations, which affects achievable throughput and can reveal a station falling back to lower-performance modes. It's built directly on top of IEEE 802.11n MAC-layer definitions and complements Cisco's broader dot11 (802.11) MIB family (e.g., station config, radio config) for wireless LAN management. It's deployed on Cisco WLAN access points/controllers providing 802.11n wireless service to client stations. Engineers can download the CISCO-DOT11-HT-MAC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DOT11-HT-MAC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco 802.11n wireless access point/controller
  • 802.11n-capable wireless client station (as managed object)

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll cD11HtMacStationConfigTable/cD11HtMacStationConfigEntry for a given client to read cD11HtMacOperationalMCSSet and cD11HtMacMIMOPowerSave, confirming the station negotiated the expected high-throughput MCS rates and power-save mode. A station reporting a lower-than-expected cD11HtMacMaxRxAMPDUFactor or cD11HtMacMaxAMSDULength than the AP supports would indicate the client's aggregation capability (and thus achievable throughput) is more limited than the network's HT configuration allows.

What Can Be Monitored

  • operational MCS set
  • MIMO power-save mode
  • AMPDU/AMSDU aggregation limits
  • MPDU density
  • HT feature support flags (block ACK, PSMP, STBC, PCO)
