Category: Cisco Devices, Device Management, SNMP Framework

Description: Defines SNMP agent capability statements for Cisco Configuration Change Management MIB across IOS platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-CONFIG-MAN-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-CONFIG-MAN-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module documenting which features of CISCO-CONFIG-MAN-MIB (Cisco IOS Configuration Change Management) a given agent implementation supports. It does not define any runtime data objects, tables, or traps itself; it is strictly a conformance/compliance statement for NMS tooling and MIB compilers. It plays no direct role in reporting device uptime, hardware sensors, or software service state. It is explicitly dependent on and paired with CISCO-CONFIG-MAN-MIB, describing supported object groups and variations of that MIB. It is consulted during MIB compilation/agent capability negotiation rather than polled during routine monitoring. Engineers can download the CISCO-CONFIG-MAN-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-CONFIG-MAN-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco IOS router/switch

Monitoring Examples

This module has no runtime objects, tables, or notifications, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it exists only to declare which CISCO-CONFIG-MAN-MIB groups a particular Cisco device/software combination implements.
