Category: Hardware and Environment, Vendor: ADTRAN
Description: Monitors power supply status and input voltage on ADTRAN AOS devices for hardware health management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ADTRAN-AOS-POWER?
This MIB module is part of ADTRAN's AOS platform and manages power-supply monitoring for devices equipped with battery backup, redundant power systems (RPS), or external power supplies (EPS). It exposes hardware status information such as the connection and delivery state of redundant/external power supply units, along with power-rollover events (e.g., switching to or from AC) and the timestamp of when a rollover occurred. This is explicitly a hardware health MIB: it lets administrators detect power supply faults, loss of AC input, battery rollover events, and abnormal power delivery states before they cause an outage. It is scoped to ADTRAN's AOS enterprise MIB tree and works alongside general AOS system/environment MIBs for full device health visibility. It is typically deployed on ADTRAN access routers and multiservice platforms installed in central offices or remote sites where backup power reliability is critical, and technicians typically complete an ADTRAN-AOS-POWER download to load the module into their SNMP management platform.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADTRAN-AOS-POWER. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ADTRAN AOS access router/multiservice device with battery backup or redundant power supply
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll adGenAOSPowerRpsConnectionState and adGenAOSPowerRpsDeliveryState to confirm a redundant power supply is physically connected and actively delivering power, and similarly adGenAOSPowerEpsConnectionState/adGenAOSPowerEpsDeliveryState for an external power supply. A change in adGenAOSPowerRolloverOnAC combined with a fresh adGenAOSPwrRollOvrEvntSecSinceEpoch timestamp would reveal that the device recently failed over from AC mains to battery, signaling a power outage at the site.
What Can Be Monitored
- power rollover on AC state
- power rollover event timestamp
- external power supply (EPS) connection state
- external power supply delivery state
- redundant power supply (RPS) connection state
- redundant power supply delivery state
