What is adnsonetLineBIP?
This OID stores a counter of bit interleaved parity (BIP) errors detected on the SONET/SDH line—BIP-24 errors for STS-3c or STM-1, and BIP-96 errors for higher-rate paths. Engineers monitor this counter to measure line signal quality and detect corrupted data being transmitted across the physical link. A steadily increasing counter indicates poor signal quality or noise on the line, which may require checking cable integrity, optical signal levels, or equipment configuration.
