adnFrtVCPathSelectMode
Module: ADN-MIB
OID (symbolic): ADN-MIB::adnFrtVCPathSelectMode
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.637.3.1.5.4.1.3.1.25
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-only
Description: The mode the path selection function must use to select a path for this VC. Best available service uses the lowest cost path(s) which meet the cost requirement as the primary path. With this approach, the first calls set up in the network potentially receive a higher quality service than calls which happen to arrive later. Best fit service uses the highest cost path(s) which meet the cost requirement as the primary path(s). This approach uses the least required resources to satisfy the cost function and conserves the higher quality of service for those calls which may require them. Common Name: Path Selection Mode
What is adnFrtVCPathSelectMode?
This OID specifies the path selection strategy—either best available service (prioritizing lowest-cost paths that meet requirements) or best fit service (using highest-cost paths that still satisfy requirements). Network engineers choose this strategy to balance objectives: best available service gives early calls priority access to premium paths, while best fit service distributes load more evenly across available paths. Best available service reserves low-cost paths for initial VCs arriving early, while best fit service tries to keep paths for later-arriving calls by utilizing expensive capacity when needed.
