This counter counts excessive zeros (EXZ) events on T1 and CES-T1 interfaces where too many consecutive zero bits violate line coding rules. Network teams monitor EXZ because long runs of zeros lose clock synchronization and create bit slip errors that accumulate downstream. A value of 15 indicates 15 instances of excessive zero sequences were detected, potentially causing the receiver to lose timing on the signal.
