This OID identifies the ID of an adjacent node that this node is directly connected to on a current network path. Network engineers use this to trace the physical topology—seeing which neighboring nodes are reachable and how they link together. For example, a value of 'area2.machine15' tells you that the adjacent node is located in area 2 with machine ID 15.
