Description: Whether packet discard option is enabled, in the transmit direction, of this Virtual Path Link (VPL). When this option is enabled all the low priority cells in the remaining of an ATM Adaptation Layer (AAL) 5 frame are discarded, as soon as one of the cell of the frame has been discarded.
What is adnAtmVplTrmPacketDiscard?
This OID indicates whether incomplete AAL 5 frames with dropped cells are discarded entirely in the transmit direction rather than delivered with errors. Engineers enable packet discard to prevent corrupted data from reaching applications and avoid retransmission of partial information. For example, with packet discard "enabled", if one cell is lost in a 10-cell frame, all remaining cells in that frame are dropped instead of delivering incomplete data.
