This OID stores the machine number component of the next hop node identifier in a VPC routing path, encoded as a signed 32-bit integer. Network engineers use this to understand which physical ATM node will receive the VPC traffic at the next hop. For example, if the machine number is 5 and the area number is 2, the next hop node is uniquely identified as machine 5 in area 2.
