Description: Number of downward cell buffer (input buffer) overflow events. Counter #26 of the ATM core, only available on ATM-SONET, ATM-SDH, ATM-DS3, and ATM-E3 interfaces.
What is adnAtmTCDownwardOverflowCounter?
This counter measures how many times the incoming cell buffer on the ATM interface overflowed, dropping received cells because they arrived faster than the interface could process them. Network engineers check this to confirm the ATM interface hardware can keep up with the line speed. An increasing counter means the interface receiver is falling behind, often caused by a slow or overloaded switch fabric on the other side.
