This OID stores the allocation order strategy for Virtual Path Identifiers dedicated to Virtual Channel Connections on an ATM interface. Network engineers configure this during interface setup to control whether new channels are allocated starting from the lowest or highest channel numbers. For example, if set to 'ascending', newly created channels will receive increasing VCI numbers starting from the lowest available number.
