Description: Duration of far end received failure (FERF) received from the remote equipment. FERF is also called remote alarm indication (RAI) or received yellow alarm. Counter #10 of the ATM core, only available on DS3-PLCP interfaces.
What is adnAtmDs3PlcpFerfCounter?
This counter measures the duration that the DS3 interface has received a Far End Receive Failure (FERF) alarm from the opposite equipment, also called remote alarm or 'yellow alarm'. Network engineers use this to detect problems at the remote site or in the circuit path between endpoints. If FERF duration is 30 seconds, it means the far-end device detected its receiver failing for half a minute—indicating a serious line or equipment issue there.
