Description: Whether packet discard option is enabled, in the receiving direction, of this Virtual Channel Link (VCL). When this option is enabled all the low priority cells in the remaining of an ATM Adaptation Layer (AAL) 5 frame are discarded, as soon as one of the cell of the frame has been discarded. Common Name : Tail Packet Discard.
What is adnAtmAccRcvPacketDiscard?
This OID controls whether Tail Packet Discard is active, automatically dropping all remaining low-priority cells in a frame once any cell is discarded. Network engineers use this to avoid wasting bandwidth on incomplete frames that the receiving application will reject anyway. When enabled (value 1), if cell 3 of 5 in an AAL-5 frame is dropped due to congestion, cells 4 and 5 are immediately discarded to save link capacity.
