Description: Manages neighbor discovery and topology detection capabilities on Accedian MetroNID Ethernet performance monitoring devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ACD-DISCOVERY-MIB?

ACD-DISCOVERY-MIB is an Accedian Networks proprietary MIB that provides neighbor-discovery and topology/inventory information for Accedian MetroNID Ethernet performance-monitoring devices. It exposes discovered-device inventory data such as system name and description, management IP address, serial number, firmware version, and MAC addresses. Its monitoring value lies mainly in software/hardware inventory tracking -- confirming firmware version and serial number for asset audits, and using the last-change timestamp to detect recent topology or configuration changes -- rather than deep performance counters. No explicit dependency on a standard discovery protocol MIB (such as LLDP-MIB) is confirmed from the available module text, though the function is conceptually similar. It is typically deployed in metro Ethernet access/aggregation networks where operators need automated topology mapping and firmware/inventory audits across a fleet of MetroNID devices, a task ACD-DISCOVERY-MIB SNMP monitoring supports directly.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ACD-DISCOVERY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Accedian MetroNID Ethernet performance monitoring device

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll acdDiscoveryInventoryTable/acdDiscoveryInventoryEntry, indexed by acdDiscoveryIndex, to read acdDiscoverySystemName, acdDiscoverySerialNumber, and acdDiscoveryFirmware across a fleet of MetroNIDs for an inventory and firmware-version audit. acdDiscoveryLastChange would be checked to detect when a device's discovered neighbor topology or state most recently changed, flagging unexpected reconfiguration. acdDiscoveryMgmtIpAddress and acdDiscoveryBaseMacAddress/acdDiscoveryInterfaceMacAddress let the admin correlate a discovered neighbor back to a specific managed device and interface.

What Can Be Monitored

  • discovered neighbor system name and description
  • device serial number
  • firmware/software version
  • management IP address
  • base and interface MAC addresses
  • last topology change timestamp
