All MIBs › A3COM-HUAWEI-LPBKDT-MIB
Organization: H3C Technologies Co., Ltd.
Last Updated: 2009-03-30
Category: VLAN and Bridging, Vendor: H3C/HH3C
Description: Monitors loopback detection on H3C switch ports, triggering shutdown or VLAN blocking when loops are found.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-LPBKDT-MIB?
A3COM-HUAWEI-LPBKDT-MIB is an H3C enterprise MIB for the loopback detection feature, which identifies physical or logical network loops on switch ports and takes protective action such as shutting down the port or blocking the offending VLAN to prevent broadcast storms. It exposes VLAN-scoped configuration for which VLAN a loop was detected on and provides notification objects to alert operators when a loop event occurs. Its monitoring purpose is fault detection on the data-plane/topology level: it primarily generates traps when a loop is discovered, functioning as an early-warning fault mechanism against network-crippling broadcast storms rather than reporting classic hardware sensors like temperature. It is a small, self-contained enterprise notification MIB without apparent dependency on other standard MIBs. It is deployed on H3C access and distribution-layer switches where accidental cabling loops (e.g., in wiring closets) are a recurring operational risk. Engineers can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-LPBKDT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-LPBKDT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C access and distribution-layer switches
Monitoring Examples
An NMS would subscribe to h3cLpbkdtNotifications to be alerted the moment a loop is detected on a given h3cLpbkdtVlanID, allowing rapid identification of the offending port or cable run before a broadcast storm degrades the network. h3cLpbkdtObjects would carry the supporting instance data (such as the affected VLAN) bundled with each notification. Repeated loop-detection traps on the same VLAN over time would point to a chronic mis-wired port needing a permanent fix rather than a one-off cabling mistake.
What Can Be Monitored
- loop-detected VLAN
- loopback detection trap events
