Category: ZXROSNG Next-Generation Transport

Description: Manages ZTE ZXROSNG MAC address tables, static MAC entries, and Layer 2 forwarding database management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZXROSNG-MAC-MIB?

ZXROSNG-MAC-MIB is a ZTE enterprise MIB (part of the ZXROS Next-Generation platform) covering Layer 2 MAC address table configuration and status on ZTE switches and routers. It exposes per-VLAN MAC configuration, static MAC entries, and forwarding database status across contexts including VPLS and VPN Layer 2 domains. Its monitoring value is in Layer 2 forwarding health: administrators can check MAC table population per VLAN or port, verify static MAC assignments, and confirm VPLS/VPN MAC status to catch forwarding or learning problems rather than hardware sensor data. It is a vendor-specific module that assumes an underlying ZTE platform MIB structure for interface and VLAN indexing. It is deployed on ZTE ZXROSNG-based carrier or enterprise switching/routing platforms, where ZXROSNG-MAC-MIB SNMP monitoring helps confirm MAC-table health across VLANs and VPLS instances.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZXROSNG-MAC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZTE ZXROSNG switch/router

Monitoring Examples

An administrator can query zxMacPortStatusTable and zxMacVlanStatusTable to confirm MAC addresses are being learned correctly on specific ports and VLANs, and check zxMacVlanCfgTable for statically configured entries. If zxMacVplsPortStatusTable shows an unexpectedly empty or shrinking MAC count for a VPLS instance, this could indicate a Layer 2 loop, flapping port, or MAC flush event. zxMacGlobalStatus would be checked for overall MAC table health across the device.

What Can Be Monitored

  • MAC address table entries per VLAN
  • MAC status per port
  • VPLS MAC status
  • VPN MAC status
  • static MAC configuration
