What Is ZXROSNG-TPAPS-MIB?

ZXROSNG-TPAPS-MIB is a ZTE proprietary module for the ZXROSNG transport platform that manages Transport Profile Automatic Protection Switching (APS), covering linear (G.8031) and ring (G.8032) Ethernet protection switching instances. It exposes configuration objects for defining protection groups/instances and status objects reporting the current protection state, such as which path (working or protection) is currently active and whether a switchover has occurred. This is directly relevant to monitoring fault status: an administrator uses it to detect when a protection switch has triggered, indicating a failure on the primary transport path, and to confirm the protection mechanism is armed and ready. It is built on and interoperates with the ITU-T G.8031/G.8032 Ethernet protection switching standards. It is deployed in ZTE transport/carrier Ethernet network elements running the ZXROSNG software platform that require sub-50ms link or ring protection. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ZXROSNG-TPAPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZXROSNG-TPAPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZTE ZXROSNG transport/carrier Ethernet network elements
  • ZTE optical transport equipment (linear/ring APS protection)

Monitoring Examples

No specific object names were captured in sample_objects, but consistent with the module's stated purpose it would expose an APS instance table with objects for protection group configuration, active/standby path selection, and switch-state/reason. An administrator would poll the switch-state object to detect an unplanned switchover from working to protection path, which signals a fiber cut or transport-layer fault on the primary path.

What Can Be Monitored

  • APS protection group configuration
  • active vs protection path selection
  • switchover state/reason
  • protection readiness
