Description: Covers ISDN BRI/PRI interfaces on Zhone Technologies equipment, including configuration, D-channel state, and call control.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZHONE-ISDN-MIB?

ZHONE-ISDN-MIB manages ISDN BRI (Basic Rate Interface) and PRI (Primary Rate Interface) functionality on Zhone Technologies equipment, covering the ISDN BRI S/T interface, D-channel signaling state, and call control. It exposes categories of data including physical/logical ISDN interface configuration, D-channel operational status, and call setup/teardown control objects. Its primary monitoring value is interface and call-control health: confirming the D-channel is up and signaling correctly is essentially a software/protocol-status check that reveals whether ISDN calls can be established, analogous to link-status monitoring on other WAN interface types. It builds on standard ISDN BRI/PRI conventions as defined by ITU-T/ANSI signaling standards. It is typically deployed on Zhone access devices providing legacy ISDN connectivity for voice or backup data circuits. Engineers can download the ZHONE-ISDN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZHONE-ISDN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Zhone Technologies ISDN access device

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check the ISDN BRI S/T interface's D-channel status to confirm Layer 2 (LAPD) signaling is established with the central office switch, and would investigate a down D-channel as the cause of failed inbound/outbound calls. Call control objects would be reviewed to see active call count and recent call-setup failures on a given BRI/PRI interface.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ISDN BRI/PRI interface configuration
  • D-channel operational status
  • call setup/teardown state
  • active call count
