Description: Monitors Zhone Technologies IP SLA probe configuration, round-trip time, and availability measurements.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZHONE-COM-IP-IPSLA-MIB?

ZHONE-COM-IP-IPSLA-MIB is a Zhone Technologies (a broadband access equipment vendor, later part of DASAN Zhone/DZS) enterprise MIB for configuring and reporting IP Service Level Agreement (SLA) probes, which actively measure network performance by sending synthetic test traffic. Its data covers probe configuration (target, type, scheduling) and the resulting performance measurements, including round-trip time and availability/reachability statistics. As a monitoring tool it is used to validate network and service health from the device's perspective, tracking whether configured SLA probes are completing successfully, whether round-trip latency to a target is within acceptable bounds, and whether availability has dropped, which can reveal upstream network degradation or an outage before it's reported by end users. It conceptually parallels Cisco's IP SLA / RTT MIB model even though it is implemented as a Zhone-proprietary tree. It is typically deployed on Zhone broadband access/aggregation devices in service-provider networks to proactively monitor last-mile or backbone path performance. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ZHONE-COM-IP-IPSLA-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZHONE-COM-IP-IPSLA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Zhone Technologies broadband access/aggregation equipment

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module; consistent with its description, a typical monitoring scenario would involve polling an IP SLA probe entry's round-trip-time and availability results, where a rising RTT trend or a drop in availability percentage for a given probe target would indicate developing network congestion or a path outage.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IP SLA probe configuration
  • round-trip time measurements
  • probe availability/reachability percentage
