Category: Zhone Technologies CPE and Access
Description: Manages Zhone Technologies embedded DHCP server pool configuration, lease allocation, and client bindings.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ZHONE-COM-IP-DHCP-SERVER-MIB?
This Zhone Technologies enterprise MIB models the embedded DHCP server function found on Zhone broadband access/CPE platforms, covering address-pool configuration, lease allocation records, and client bindings. It exposes data on configured scopes/pools, active lease assignments, and per-client binding details such as IP address, lease expiry, and client identifier. Its monitoring value is chiefly around the software health of the embedded DHCP service — confirming pool utilization, whether leases are being issued and renewed normally, and identifying exhausted address pools that would prevent new clients from obtaining an address. It reflects standard DHCP concepts (RFC 2131) but is implemented using Zhone-proprietary structures rather than an IETF DHCP-server MIB. It is deployed on Zhone access gateways and residential/business CPE devices providing local DHCP service to attached subscriber LANs. Engineers can download the ZHONE-COM-IP-DHCP-SERVER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZHONE-COM-IP-DHCP-SERVER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Zhone Technologies broadband CPE/gateway with embedded DHCP server
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were available in this MIB source. In general, an administrator would poll the DHCP pool and lease-binding tables to check pool utilization and active client bindings. A pool nearing its address limit with no available leases would explain new subscriber devices failing to obtain an IP address.
What Can Be Monitored
- DHCP pool/scope configuration
- active lease count and utilization
- client lease bindings and expiry
