What Is ZHONE-PHY-LINE-TYPES?

ZHONE-PHY-LINE-TYPES is a Zhone Technologies vendor-specific MIB that defines physical line-type identifiers and media classifications used for provisioning ports on Zhone Universal Line Card (ULC) hardware. Its central object is ulcTable, indexed by shelf, slot, and ulcPortIndex, with ulcPortType classifying each port as pots, isdn, or ebs and ulcTrapEnable controlling whether the device sends line-level traps to the NMS for that port (disabled by default). This is a small, focused configuration MIB rather than a statistics MIB, so monitoring it mainly confirms each ULC port is provisioned with the intended line type and that trap notifications are enabled where an operator expects alerting. It depends on the parent Zhone enterprise MIB for zhonePhysical, zhoneShelfIndex, and zhoneSlotIndex indexing objects, tying it directly into Zhone's broader chassis/shelf/slot device model, and it is deployed on Zhone access-platform chassis carrying ULC line cards, as documented in this ZHONE-PHY-LINE-TYPES reference to its per-port line-type and trap-enable objects.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZHONE-PHY-LINE-TYPES. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Zhone Technologies access platforms with Universal Line Card (ULC) hardware

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls ulcPortType and ulcTrapEnable for each port on a given shelf/slot to confirm a port intended for ISDN service is actually provisioned as isdn(2) rather than pots(1), and that ulcTrapEnable is set to enabled(1); a mismatched port type would explain why a line isn't behaving as the expected service, and a disabled trap setting would explain why no alert was raised when the line went down.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port line type provisioning (POTS/ISDN/EBS)
  • per-port line-level trap enable/disable setting
  • shelf/slot/port indexing
  • port provisioning consistency across a ULC
